I was asked to photograph this wedding after Una and Michael found me by searching for a documentary wedding photographer in London, so I knew there would be some great candid moments to capture. And when these two Irish families came together in North London to celebrate the wedding, there were a lot of great documentary moments.
Preparation began at the wonderful St Pancras Hotel with Una and her charming daughters Olivia and Kate. They were understandably very excited about being flower girls at 'their' wedding. Once the hair and makeup were finished, we shot a few portraits on the grand staircase, before I moved on to St Joseph's church in Highgate.
Michael was welcoming family and friends, and there were some great moments when relatives met again before the ceremony. Once Una had arrived and been escorted down the aisle by her father, the ceremony began in the beautiful listed church. After the ceremony, the newly married family headed off to the reception in a classic car whilst I joined the rest of the guests on a London bus.
The celebrations continued at the Crown Moran Hotel in Cricklewood where the guests had the wedding breakfast in the Bentley room before the band got things moving on the dance floor.
